Hi Everyone!!!
All my friends & colleagues do ask me how is Vishu celebrated? What you all do on this day? Do u have the traditional sadya on banana leaf? And many more such questions. This blog post is an answer to all those who wanted to know it. Vishu is considered as our new year and as it's widely believed that our whole year will be positive and good, if we spend the first day of the year in positivity. So, we celebrate it as much as we can to make it a positive day with our family & friends. It includes many things to complete a vishu celebrations like Vishu Kani, Vishu Kaineetam, Vishu Kodi, Vishu Sadya and many more. The word Kani means that thing which is seen first, so Vishu Kani means that what you see first on Vishu. As it's believed that seeing something joyful and positive can make you experience the same, Vishu Kani is prepared in every house as an auspicious ingredient of Vishu Celebration. It is prepared one night before Vishu. A special flower is used to prepare Vishu Kani without which it's incomplete, it's called as Vishu Konna, it only blooms during the season of Vishu. Vishu Kani includes a tray called as Uralli in which auspicious items are kept such as rice, golden cucumber, coconut, jackfruit, Valkannadi or normal mirror, golden yellow Konna flowers, golden yellow banana, golden yellow mangoes, gold or silver coins, golden jewellery, coins or currency notes, and an image of the god Vishnu. These items change as per the locality changes in kerala, so could find some additional items in some areas. On the early morning of Vishu, elderly person in the family or mother lights up the oil lamp called Nilavilakku kept next to Vishu Kani, then goes to each member of the family one by one, blindfolds and wakes each one up, walks them to the front of the kani, then releases the blindfold so one can see the setting, and then greets the Vishu day. On the morning of Vishu, everyone gets ready and wear new clothes bought for the occasion of Vishu, called as Vishu Kodi. The elderly person in the family or the one who earns his income gives money to others as a tradition called as Vishu Kaineetam. Childrens in the family enjoy bursting crackers. Then everyone with the whole family, happily visits temple to offer prayers on the auspicious day and seek blessings from god. It even makes the day more special when we meet many more friends and relatives in the temple and wish them for Vishu. Once back from the temple, the whole family helps each other in preparing Vishu Sadya, which is basically the traditional lunch in banana leaf. It includes many dishes in it giving different flavors to the food like sweet, salty, sour, bitter and many more flavors. These traditional festive recipes, that combine different flavors, are a symbolic reminder that one must expect all flavors of experiences in the coming new year, that no event or episode is wholly sweet or bitter, experiences are transitory and ephemeral, and to make the most from them. After having the traditional lunch in banana leaf, all the family members and friends sit together and start playing different games which makes the moment more memorable and happy. We are celebrating the first day of the year in such a way that the whole year would be in the same way, happy and joyful with our family and friends, enjoying each part of the race called as life with them. This is how we celebrate Vishu, in kerala and also outside kerala, with full joy and happiness with our family and friends. You all also enjoy this auspicious day with lots of fun and happiness. Wishing you all a very Happy Vishu. Let me know how you enjoyed Vishu in comments below. Do like, share and comment your views below. First of all thanks to all of you for your amazing support and response for my last two blog posts of “Learn Life in Lifeline of Mumbai” & “Goa Diaries”. It's your encouragement that has helped me in writing my next blog post. This time I am trying something different, till now I have only written blogs on specific topics. Now, I would like to introduce a new concept, it's named “Wandering Minds”. As the name suggests, this blog post would include topics related to any incident or news occurring. And would not necessarily be periodic. Our mind is active all the time 24x7, like when we sleep our mind doesn't stop thinking that's why we dream. Mind keeps on wandering in its own nomadic ways, through different thoughts; examining, assuming, conceiving and judging. Wandering Minds works in the same way, expressing and presenting my viewpoints on different topics as my mind wanders through these. So let’s free our minds to wander around and explore different thoughts and topics, which can help or guide others to think in a different angle about life and have a better living. Do share your wandering thoughts with me in the comments, I would really love to know them. Let's share our wandering minds to bring up some unique thoughts or some solutions to the existing problems. Do share the blog and comment your views below. Thank You #VivekPanicker #VivekBlog #Blog #WanderingMinds #FreeMinds #Wandering #Thoughts Hi Guys!!!
